Chapman Point Cottage

Very nice to be close to the ocean and Mendocino. Chapman point cottage was great for weekend vacation because of the proximity to Mendocino and the ocean views from the house. I also enjoyed the pellet furnace and hot tub. I do wish they would have updated the TV system to only use Roku and not have three different remotes, which was quite confusing. Overall, it was a good stay; my only complaint would be that the bed was kind of hard. There is also another house right next to Chapman cottage, which is not depicted in the images. I wish this information would have been more apparent.

We love staying with Mendocino Preferred. All their homes are beautiful, clean, and amazing. They even gave us a bottle of wine and goodies for our pooch. I cannot say though good things about them. Chapman Cottage was so cute and the views were amazing. Thank you for another great stay!

This was a very comfortable, clean, cozy, and spacious house. Just know that the bathroom is downstairs, although the loft is like sleeping in a tree house so that was fine for us. I also thought we would be able to walk to see the ocean but it is a landlocked cottage. I could see a tiny slice from the loft bedroom window.

We very much enjoyed our lovely stay in this tucked away cottage. Great privacy in the middle of the woods, well cleaned.

We are just back in from our 5 night stay in the quaint and cozy Chapman Point Cottage overlooking the bay. Beautiful views of Mendocino complete with their Victorian homes. Liked the washer/dryer, pellet stove, huge kitchen, huge shower, upstairs loft bedroom, easy parking, and pristine grounds. Thank you for the "bark box", bottle of Husch Chardonnay, and Happy Birthday sign.Our pups loved the 1/4 mile private road leading to the cottage. Very safe and quiet. Future visitors should note that you sleep upstairs in the loft area so you better get ready for stairs. We plan on a future visit in the fall.

Great location, great cottage with lots of light and fabulous use of space. This is our go-to place in Mendo.

My wife and I booked a short stay near the holidays over our birthdays (we have birthdays close together). Not only was the place picturesque and sublimely cozy, but the team added a few thoughtful touches to celebrate our birthdays. That small gesture really surprised us and we honestly were very happy that they thought of us. We would absolutely stay here again. Wonderful management team and beautiful location!

Very nicely appointed cottage on a quiet bluff overlooking Mendo--when not fogged in! But the fog didn't spoil our stay. Beautiful in its own way and enhanced the coziness of the cottage. Would love to have tried the pellet stove, but did enjoy the brandy--a nice touch. Super clean. Easy communications with the agency. Will return.

Nice and relaxing.

Chapman Point Cottage is cozy and comfortable. While you don't get an ocean view, the large windows face out to a lovely wooded scene and garden. The kitchen is very well equipped, with updated and working appliances. The living area is spacious, inviting, with plush reading chairs and a fine tv. The bedroom lacks drawer storage, but there is plenty of closet space, and the bed is so comfortable you may not want to leave. In all, it feels private, quiet, and convenient to all local attractions. We have stayed here twice and recommended it to friends who were similarly impressed.

Loved the location, the amenities, and the privacy. Very comfortable for two people and two little dogs. We will gladly stay here again during our next visit to Mendocino! :)

This was our second stay at Chapman Cottage. Lovely accommodations and experience. Mendocino Preferred is a great company to deal with. We rent vacation homes often, and they are one of the best.

Beautiful location and lovely home. Felt so great waking up in the lofted bed with pine trees all around you. Kitchen is well stocked-- though maybe could use a coffee upgrade-- and bathroom is incredibly clean and spacious. Heater cranks and keeps the house cozy. Hot tub feels well cared for and was at a great temp. Beautiful and quiet road but such a quick drive to Mendocino. Would definitely stay again!

This little cottage was just wonderful to stay at. My girlfriend and I had an amazing trip staying here, we even talked about returning for another trip next year! The check in/ check out process was very smooth and easy. The host gave very quick responses with any questions I had which was super helpful. This is the perfect getaway for two, very grateful to have stayed here!

Loved the cottage's rustic character and close proximity to Mendocino Village. It was a wonderful setting for our wedding anniversary. The check-in/out process was very convenient, and we really appreciated the personal touches to wish us a happy anniversary!

We visited Mendocino with the intent of kayaking the Albion and Big River. Chapman Pt. is perfectly situated with easy access to these outside activities, as well as town. It was great to return "home" from the river and jump in the hot tub to soak those sore muscles. We could choose to cook in the large, well appointed, kitchen, or take advantage of the fine dining within five minutes of the cottage. The comfortable living room furniture was condusive to hanging out watching TV, lounging, and reading. We had the best night's sleep in between the fine linens with the sound of the ocean in the backround.
This is a repeat, for sure.

You can only see a postage stamp of water from an upstairs window so to say there is any ocean view at all is an overstatement. The pellet stove and the gas heater are both loud so hanging out in the house on a cool day wasn’t that great for us. Otherwise it was lovely.

We were very happy with Chapman Point Cottage. The Cottage was cozy, yet roomy. The pellet stove very quickly made the cottage toasty warm. Loved the hot tub. Just a short distance from downtown Mendocino and many awesome trails with beach access. Only thing we missed was there were no deer in the area. Otherwise a very nice coastal getaway.

My husband and I had a wonderful time at the Chapman Point Cottage! The location, in the bluffs overlooking the ocean and town of Mendocino was perfect for us to easily access nearby trails and also head to town to grab a bite to eat. The setting was private and quiet and you can really take in the spectacular setting from the hot tub. We loved peeking out the windows in the upstairs loft to see the night lights of the town of Mendocino and catch a peek of the bay. What a gem! We are already planning our return visit.

Great cabin for a couple ... bedroom loft with his and her closets, nice hot tub under the stars, with windows open can hear the ocean waves at night. Lots to do in Mendocino, love the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens short drive away. Dog friendly, appreciated the dog treat on arrival and chance to vacation with our pet.

We rented both the cottage and main house for our family. We spent most of our time in the main house, but the cottage is very comfortable. We enjoyed hikes to the bluff trail and take-out dinners from Mendocino. The home is well-stocked and the bed is comfortable. Overall a great place.

This was a perfect place to retreat and isolate during Thanksgiving. My boyfriend's parents rented the Chapman house and it made for a perfect get away.

When we first arrived we discovered there was no hot water. I called Mendocino Preferred and they got a plumber out immediately to replace the unit. Very professional and responsive. The house itself was very cozy and super clean with a very well-equipped kitchen (great heavy pans and high quality knives). Very close to all sorts of amazing hikes that the owners included in the welcome packet...places that are off the beaten track and awe-inspiring.

We loved the architectual design of the cottage, the natural wood pieces, the simple and artistic touches. Sitting under the cypress trees in the hot tub was so relaxing after our daily walks/. The cottage was well supplied and very cozy. Also a treat to wake in the loft bedroom that felt like being in a tree house and listening to the ocean in the distance. Thanks to the owners for sharing their house and it's special ambiance and for allowing our small dog. We will be back!

We absolutely loved the Chapman Point Cottage, perfect location in Mendocino close to downtown, beaches, hikes and wider Anderson Valley for wine tasting. Cozy and quiet, could hear the ocean while relaxing in the hot tub, great kitchen for cooking, just what we were looking for in a quick getaway! Perfect for our little old Pug as well. Definitely looking forward to coming back!

This place is terrific: spacious, well-appointed, and very private. It's in a great location, too: just outside the charming town of Mendocino. We stayed in the cottage for a week and would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Amazing weekend! The house was so comfortable and spacious and the 360 degree windows created a gorgeous back drop. The hosts were so thoughtful to include a special birthday sign and even our pup had a welcome gift waiting for him upon arrival. Would definitely stay here again!

Very pet friendly on beautiful grounds with ocean view just outside your door. Quiet, peaceful and private spa with brandy provided. Special touches for our 43rd anniversary made it even more memorable.

This was an amazing place! We loved EVERYTHING about it.... pellet stove, jacuzzi, views, grounds, and interior. The management of the property were also incredible!

We encountered a little bad luck when we first arrived, everyone we spoke with at the office was friendly & professional & any issues were addressed right away. We were celebrating my husband's 51st birthday & our 13th anniversary. There were birthday & anniversary flyers waiting for us upon arrival, very special! Overall we had a wonderful time & will definitely be back!

Overall we had a good experience at the vacation rental in the cottage. The location was super convenient to both Mendocino as well as Ft. Bragg. The cabin was spacious and clean upon arrival. I was glad we'd brought food and other spices, oils and basics from home so we didn't have to buy them again. The heater worked really well as did the hot tub. It seems like you can walk down to the water from the place, but there is another, larger home right in front on the same property, so ocean access is blocked.

I've been to Chapman Point Cottage several times over the years. Its location is outstanding. Just across the bay from town. Very quite. The site is always clean and people in the area very friendly. I will return again.

The cottage is a wonderful, quiet, cozy, romantic setting with nice views of Mendocino's peninsula. In the morning, you can hear the ocean's waves lapping up on the shore. It is about a 3 minute drive to Mendocino and about 7 minutes to Little River. It is a beautiful little building, great light and the hot tub is super! Fully equipped kitchen if you want to play chef, and close enough to awesome dining if you want to eat out. The pellet stove is great, and helps keep the morning chill at bay. The only suggestion - the road sign is super hard to see, particularly at night - if there is any way to have additional signage on Hwy 1. Other than that, it was a terrific weekend and wonderful stay.

Really enjoyed the cottage...very quiet and clean. Beautiful and fully functional. Waking up in the morning felt as if you were in a tree house in the forest. Love this place.

As always, we wish we just owned it outright and could make it over much more often. This is our favorite vacation rental we've ever had, and are SO spoiled, that it colored our experience for a nice home we rented last summer in the Sierra Foothills. There, we had to take our own sheets and towels, paper towels, even the TP! SO nice to just walk in and start our escape at Chapman Cottage!

Selfishly, we don't want to recommend this place so that it is always available when WE want it!

Mendocino preferred is TOP NOTCH! I've enjoyed their clients properties for over a decade at four different sites in or around Mendocino. Chapman Point Cottage is one of my favorites. Convenient to all local sites, perfect for one/or two. Winter, Summer, Spring or Fall...this is one spot to just sit down and let the World go bye.

We loved our stay at Chapman Point Cottage. The location is great. The amenities are exactly as described. Great kitchen. Clearly the owners want to make everyone who stays here very comfortable. Totally relaxing but does have TV. wifi, etc so that one can keep in touch with the outside world when desired.

The Chapman Point Cottage was perfect for a long weekend getaway! The house was very clean and in a perfect location for local hikes, canoeing, and Mendocino restaurants.

This cottage is located south of Mendocino bay. It is a rustic and comfortable location. There is a view of the ocean and of Mendocino, but only if you stand at an upstairs window (on your toes if you are short) and look around another house. (We were not misled into thinking the view was better.) The charm of the property is that it is a nice, unique, cozy place to spend a few days while visiting the Mendocino coast. The furnishings are older but in good condition. The bathroom and kitchen are up-to-date and nicely stocked. The queen bed is comfortable. My only wish for a change would be to have a bathroom on the same level as the bedroom, which is an upstairs loft. We have stayed here twice and will most likely return.

The pictures of this cottage do not speak to how large and cozy this place actually is. We went with our 2 small dogs (who were as happy and relaxed as we were). A very special home with a private hot tub, laundry room, heated bathroom, large kitchen with everything you need, pellet stove and propane heater, plus an electric heater in the loft, cozy couches, a beautiful partial view of the ocean from the bedroom, privacy as if you were far far away but your only 3min from town. I can go on and on about the features! Fresh flowers, bones for our dogs, and brandy ready to drink and make you relax after a long drive. This will definitely be our home away from home! Can't beat the price for what you get. Plus the property management was very helpful and kind. We will be returning ASAP!:)

The house is beautiful - the photos do not do it justice. Excellent proximity to state parks and the town of Mendocino.

Wonderful stay! Both the house and cottage were immaculately clean. There were enough supplies, including coffee! for the first day. The view from the house is stunning; both from the great room and kitchen as well as the master bedroom. The area is quiet, secluded, beautiful. The homes are both clean, comfortable, homey, and the perfect place for a family vacation. Highly recommended, and we plan to return!

My wife and I (and our pup) came to Mendocino for the first time for a romantic mid-week getaway. Chapman Point Cottage was everything we wanted... spacious, relatively private, and beautiful. We couldn't have asked for a better vacation!

We loved out stay at Chapman Point Cottage and would definitely stay here again. A charming place, beautifully appointed with a great kitchen for cooking. The hosts thought of everything and the location was perfectly situated close enough to town but far enough to feel like you were in the woods.

This is our second time at the ChapmanPoint House. We love the location and the property..the expansive floor to ceiling windows overlooking the bay, the spacious living/dining/kitchen space and comfortable bedrooms.....all make for a joyful vacation spot. The housekeeping was quite adequate.
A couple of points for management and owner:
The property, specially the wooden beams in the living room, which were visibly wet, is in need of some maintenance. It would be shame to let such a beautiful property deteriorate.
The last minute consternation, that you did not have a copy of the signed lease, even though it was mailed three weeks prior should have been avoided by better management.

My wife and I recently spent several wonderful days at the Chapman Point Cottage. Located so close to Mendocino and some of our favorite places, yet hidden away on a wooded point. Perfect for two people, a really charming and relaxing place. Great kitchen facility and tasteful decor made it great to return to after a long day. Well maintained and spotlessly clean. we plan on returning this winter.

I'm a several years client of Mendocino Preferred. I've stayed at three different properties. This time I chose Chapman Point Cottage. It's a perfect location for my visits and has everything needed including the outdoor spa. The property is private, quite, & serene. I strongly recommend this site.

The relative location combined with its proximity to town lends the cabin to a privacy seeking patron. The bed was comfortable and the utilities were easy to use. All in all, a very positive experience that I would recommend to any of my friends.

The Chapman Point Cottage was perfect for my boyfriend and me. It was the perfect amount of space and conveniently located. There was some confusion about picking up the paperwork after hours, but Mendocino Preferred Vacation Rentals made it right and sent over a bottle of champagne the next day. We had a WONDERFUL time!
