If you love hunkering down in the forest with your honey, this is the ideal hideaway for two - just don't let the name fool you into thinking it is some type of barn. About five miles from the sea, (NOTE: actually, it's only two miles), and surrounded by cypress and fir trees, this perfectly maintained one-bedroom cottage is a delight, and since it is owned by the same innkeepers who operate CYPRESS COVE, you can expect the best. Occupying the second story only (a garage is below), the cottage features a feast of romantic features. Watch for shooting stars as you heat up in the hidden hot tub on the back deck, or stargaze through skylights while cuddling beneath the down comforter on the queen-size bed. On the homemaking side, a fully equipped kitchen will have you cooking in style; the wood-burning fireplace, embellished by Portuguese tile, will keep things toasty; and, in the armoire, a TV, VCR and CD player with a CD and video selection should keep you entertained when you're not kissing. Soft white and beige tones, natural woods, and pine furnishings create a warm contemporary feel, and everything is spic 'n span. Off the bedroom, French doors open onto a small balcony, which overlooks the driveway and the owner's home nearby. A basket of fruits and bakery goods-good for two days' worth of breakfasts-comes with the cottage, and such appliances as a coffeemaker and juice squeezer make mornings much easier. A five-minute drive takes you into town, but we bet you won't want to roll out of the Hayloft to make the trip.

W ow! What a wonderful place to stay! I kidnapped my husband for his birthday and brought him here - a complete surprise. It was quite a moment to see the look on his face as we drove up the hill - he thought I was lost for sure. His jaw dropped to the ground as soon as he figured out what was going on. We both walked around in amazement as soon as we got here. The Hayloft far surpassed my expectations - the photographs do not even compare to the real thing. We enjoyed everything about this trip - even the brief power outage. We are both leaving here with smiles on our faces. Thank you again and we will be back.

P eaceful, blissful, restful and beautifully done. You have achieved a wonderful combination here and we really, really enjoyed it.

P.S. Had reservations about not staying on the shore, but that notion instantly evaporated upon arrival. Being nestled in the treetops, the scent of the pines, the blissful silence. Within 10 minutes we were in the hot tub sipping champagne and celebrating our anniversary. Thank you for making our vacation so special. Your "Hayloft" is exquisitely designed and beautifully decorated... and lends itself to pure relaxation and contentment.

I t's been everything you've read before and more! Thanks for being invisible during our time here and yet meeting our every need thru-out our visit! (You're incredible!) We haven't been this relaxed in ages! Please don't ever get rid of the hot tub, bird feeder, sherry, chocolates, fruit, robes, fresh flowers, etc., etc., etc. And for having "Same Time, Next Year" waiting.

C aptivating! Exceeded our expectations! To create an atmosphere that rivals the beauty of the Mendocino sites - is some accomplishment! Found it almost impossible to break away from the serenity of The Hayloft. Managed to get away a few times for short periods.... You've got the formula; Hayloft took the edge off!
