“How much would it be for us to rent this place permanently!?! Edge of the Sea was such a breathtaking place that we didn't want to leave. This place had everything we needed and then some. Spotlessly clean with extra details like towel origami and detailed home guides made us feel like great care went into making sure our stay was exceptional. Plenty of space for up to 8 people to enjoy a stay in this beautiful oceanfront house complete with a hot tub, surround sound (although we could not get that to work), games and a fireplace. 15 minute drive to Mendocino. Easy in/out via keypad. Hosts were very responsive. We are already planning a return visit!”

Beds in the smaller rooms are not queen; they are full size.
King mattress not great quality in bedroom. The couches in family room sink too much and have lived a full life already.
Kitchen didn't have enough matching plates / bowls / wine glasses and we couldn't set a table for a meal and have them all match. In fact only 4 wine glasses provided and only 2 matched.
All blinds are broken. Some don't go up at all and we missed out on gorgeous views.
I have rented other properties from Mendocino Preferred and they have all been immaculate. I have however had this problem where they list the property has having a queen bed but they in fact are full size beds. This is a very large problem if 2 adults that are not a couple to share the small bed. I hope they would clarify before us figuring it out after arrival.

This Home is one of the most beautiful settings on the Mendocino Coast directly on the bluffs, with windows in every room for the perfect feel of being next to the ocean. We had 8 adults and 2 babys and 2 dogs plus my husbands service dog and we were all comfortable in the home. The kitchen was well stocked we cooked every night but one and it had everything we needed. the rental company gave great directions to the home and how everything worked plus they had a beautiful flower arrangement and personalized happy birthday signs for my husband. My husband is a Paraplegic and his wheelchair fit easily inside all the rooms doorways and there was a roll in shower in the master bath that was perfect for him. There were 2 large steps to get up to the entry patio to enter the home but it was easily managed with my 2 boys helping his wheelchair bump up and down those. I should have brought a bigger ramp but, next time will do that. We had a perfect stay, watching whales from the den as they passed in the ocean, flying our kite on the massive lawn, relaxing in the hot tube to the sounds of the waves, and big family dinners around the large dining room table. Just perfect, thank you for opening your house up to visitors.

Beautiful home in a secure gated location right on the Edge of the Sea. Million dollar views. Pet friendly and so welcoming. House binder with all information needed was excellent. The home was so comfortable with a covered balcony to enjoy the sun, rain, wind and huge storm. It was amazing to see the ocean from every window.

We have been coming to this house for years maybe 10+ years. Always enjoy the location and the view. The mattress in the master bedroom needs updated and the driveway in the winter floods. You have to walk through water and mud. Used to be able to park in the garage but now it is occupied with a truck. They really need some gravel in the parking area. My car is full of mud. Other than that all went well.

The occasion was for my wife's birthday. A surprise trip with her best friends which includes her cousin and her husband. We arrived first to find an amazing cliff side home in classic coastal condition. Inside we were surprised by a lovely happy birthday sign on the window and a very nice letter welcoming us. The home was perfect, beautifully decorated and furnished and compete to enjoy our celebration. The only sounds we could hear were the waves crashing on the rocks and the seagulls nearby. After a couple of hours, all of the stress and chaos of every day life were forgotten and laughter and joy would fill the air for the remainder our our lovely weekend. If you ever consider a stay at this amazing location, make sure to follow through. It's so refreshing and relaxing.

This is my third time renting directly from Medocino Preferred. As usual they were great to deal with...minor issues were dealt with quickly. The house was a lot bigger than expected and the view was fantastic. Always nice to be greeted by towels folded like a swan and everything was spotless. There have been some reviews on the bad definitely is not gigabit but we found it totally adequate. Would definitely stay again.

My husband and I as well as our daughter her husband and their two children had a wonderful stay in this home. The location cannot be beat. The view is outstanding and the large windows showcased it beautifully. The house is located only 10 minutes away from Mendocino and about the same distance to Elk. We brought two dogs and it is very dog friendly. The kitchen is well equipped and the house was clean and comfortable. Our only problem was that the furnace kept going off. We used the fireplace and they brought us space heaters that we didn’t have to use, as someone from the property management came by and showed us how to get under the house and restart it. Our son in law had to do that an additional four times during our stay. Hopefully they are able to get that issue corrected. We would definitely return though, as our stay was overall great.

Nothing can beat walking in the front door of this property and have your breath taken away by the view. This home was a great family getaway and I would definitely stay again. The staff was incredibly helpful and responsive. Thank you for a very memorable trip.

Wonderful location, very nice home... all made for a perfect week long get away.
Had a couple of little glitches but rental agency addressed them promptly and took care of the problem.
Only draw back was sloooow internet but that is endemic to the area, not the fault of the rental that had a modern 5G router.

It was a lovely stay at Edge of the Sea -- just perfect for our family. We liked that it was a bit out of town (from Mendocino) but not too far. The place was clean, well stocked, and very quiet with beautiful sunsets and views of the ocean.

Our second time renting this house. Location and view is amazing; however, the property sits on a coastal bluff and is in need of updating. At this price point the interior is substandard and needs a remodel. The window blinds are cheap and have not worked this summer or last summer (with this view I'm not sure why someone would want them down but it's a hassle when they won't raise). The hot tub heating element broke during our stay and it was disappointing that we could not use it. Would we come back? Yes, the view and location is great with lots of wildlife out the windows including deer and fox. I'm just hoping they do some general upgrades.

Overall our stay was nice. The house is in a nice location about 1 mile from Ledford House. Easy entry and access. The home overall is mostly nice, there are just some amenities that need updating, like the kitchen area. The spa was on the dirtier side and could use a cleaning. Overall though we did enjoy our stay.

The views from all common areas and the primary bedroom are amazing at all times of day. We had a fantastic time just staring out at the ocean and enjoying the hot tub. The hosts provided a nice bottle of wine, creamers, and a small bag of coffee at arrival. Our family will cherish the memories of our time together at Edge of the Sea. Although the decor isn’t quite “in style,” the house is extremely well maintained and clean.( Keep in mind that shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and laundry detergent are not provided.)

Door knowb all corroded. Was locked in the garage and bedroom because the door knobs no longer worked.
Single ply bathroom tissue was a surprise. Just had to use more.

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at Edge of the Sea... and it truly is at the Edge! The views were spectacular. The home itself was very nice, very comfortable beds, even the pullout couch had a nice mattress topper for extra cushioning. The hottub was great- super relaxing..and did I mention the views?!
We had a fantastic time playing board games on the deck. The kids flew kites on the open grassy area. Just a really nice, low key, relaxing long weekend!

WE enjoyed our three days at this ocean front property. Good base of operations for touring the coastal areas, lots of trails and hidden beaches. Nice well stocked house in a quiet neighborhood. Not a good place for young children due to front edge cliff. Recommended property.

Excellent place to stay. My husband has Parkinson’s and it was an easy home for him to move around in. The only suggestion would be to sharpen the knives and have more spices available.

We had a great time. The view was amazing and the weather was great.

We loved the house, the view, and its location. As business owners we desperately needed a break from the past years drama. The rocky NorCal coastline has always been our favorite place to refresh and renew and this was an ideal spot for us. The house is spacious and the layout would work great for families since the bedrooms are located at the opposite end of the house from the TV room/ main hangout spot. overall the furniture was comfortable and easy to sit in for hours reading a book, etc. The WiFi is adequate but don't count on streaming anything while you're there. The only complaint would be the brick mattress in the master bedroom...we ended up placing the foam mattress pad stored in the closet and normally used for the foldout couch on top of it to soften the experience. All in all we would definitely return for another week at Edge of the Sea

House has good views, great covered place to sit and eat outdoors, All floors but bedrooms are tile. For us oldies it was hard on the knees. Place was very clean.

The home is absolutely wonderful. The views are spectacular and loved the covered deck. You are about 30 minutes from the wineries and 15 minutes from Mendocino so the location was perfect for us. The house was spotless and well appointed. We definitely will rent this home again. The only cons were we didn't have any cell service and the neighbors could see the hot tub.

Loved this house, perfect location and secluded away from main roads and traffic. House was very clean and comfortable.One day we took a trip up north from there to the Redwoods and another day took a trip south to point arena. I was able to see 2 foxes and a lot of deer come on to the property. We look forward to staying at this house again.

We were a group of two grandparents, two parents and a 3 year old. We loved the seaside view and saw lots of wildlife including a raccoon family and skunk which apparently live beneath the house. We also saw deer, heron, and a whale. The ocean view and cliff side seat are fantastic. The house is very comfortable and well appointed. We were amazed that the family room furniture is not oriented toward the view; we switched it! I gave it a 4 star on cleanliness because there were enormous amounts of raccoon poop all over the patio and yard every day despite our daily efforts to pick it up. The inside was spotless. Thank you for a wonderful vacation.

Just an awesome home! Super high ceilings throughout; all the amenities you will need for a nice weekend stay! Bed was comfortable in master, and couch was decent for a rental. The staff made us feel special as there was a note welcoming us for our anniversary and also a note that welcomed our dog as well. Super cute. Outside is the money maker. Just endless views of the pacific. No road noise as you’re tucked in towards the coast and far away from Highway 1. Definitely screenshot the instructions and have your map going (don’t turn off even if no service as it will still navigate offline) as there is ZERO service on the way up there. Internet works fine there as well. Not blazing fast, but serviceable. Overall, I HIGHLY recommend this home.

Upon arrival we were with a nice flower arrangement and an instruction booklet explaining how to work the TV and also a list of restaurants to go to, hiking trails, and pet friendly trails. We brought our dogs with us. The windows are floor to ceiling. You can see the ocean from every room in the home. We wanted to live there! The staff went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful!! Going to be coming back as soon as we can!

Wonderful setting right on the bluffs. Great spacious home with everything you need . Great hot tub out on deck to enjoy the views. Unfortunately the power went out due to fires and PGE but they did get us a refund which was very kind of them. Will go back for sure.

Overall the stay was above average. The house is located in an amazing spot, with beautiful views. The house is somewhat dated and during our stay we had multiple problems. Toaster broken, dryer broken, wet and moldy towels, couch bed broken and very uncomfortable, window blinds broken. Rental staff were somewhat rude and unaccomidating. We still enjoyed our stay, great location and private. The house needs some upgrades, but you can't beat the view.

Gorgeous views of the Pacific will delight you during your stay. We appreciated the close proximity to conveniences in downtown Mendocino as well as the Anderson Valley Wine Region! We enjoyed the hot tub, and it was working perfectly during our stay. We don't watch much TV, but on the dark, winter nights it would have been a nice entertainment option. The TV is problematic, channel selection is not great, and no DVDs although there is a DVD player. Wifi not strong enough to stream anything. Thankfully, we brought lots of games!

Booked for my birthday getaway with 5 friends. The view is spectacular and the home is very nice & comfortable. Great layout. It was the perfect retreat for us ladies. Close enough to Mendocino and Fort Bragg for shopping and ocean adventures. Despite the wildfire smoke hovering the first 3 days, we truly had a memorable time. Plenty of linens, pots, pans, dishes, etc. Coffee maker, while different, works just fine and no problems with the WiFi. The only disappointment was the spa was not heated and ready for use as indicated. A technician was sent out to repair it only to determine the motor was broken and not fixable. Kinda a bummer since we partially based our decision on that feature. The place is neat and well kept but needs a good, deep thorough cleaning. I would definitely come back.

TV was difficult to operate. HOT TUB was somewhat dirty....

Nice location, pictures describe it well, but be aware that you will need to drive to get to anywhere from here, even to Albion (just over the bridge), and there is no access to any beach; even walking your dog is rather limited on the few access driveways inside the gate (a gate which you cannot open as a pedestrian, or even bicyclist, once inside! It can only be opened/triggered automatically by a car.)

The property is nice and clean overall, maybe with the exception of the hot tub, which had sand in it and some other little black "floatsome."

The climate by the edge of the sea is harsh to materials, and the owners seem to have given up that fight for the most part: There is a lot of corrosion and some wood rot, e.g. in the railings of the deck, nothing too horrible, but a bit sad... The equipment in the kitchen is adequate, but if you come with 6-8 people you end up running the dishwasher half full a lot, after running out of plates. (Others already mentioned the somewhat bewildering coffee maker. Makes ok coffee, and the generously provided ground coffee was of good quality and quantity, but the machine is inconvenient to use, and takes a while to learn to handle without mishaps.)

The internet (satellite based?) is excruciatingly sloooooow... Less than a Mb/sec, about 1% of what most people with good service get at home, i.e. OK for email or simple websites, but don't come expecting to get serious remote work done or other data-intense online activities, especially once the kids get on the WiFi!

Overall, nice and quiet. There was no one at the neighboring houses, which made it even more peaceful.

Second time my family stayed. Great location and layout. But some of the furnishings have aged badly. The sofa bed was broken (and this is one of the beds on the listing expecting to sleep 2) and the sectional couch in the family room is so saggy that it is really uncomfortable and should be replaced. Appreciated the improved internet compared to 2 yrs ago and the new cook top

Not a great experience, but none of it due to the owners. On the drive up, we were contacted to tell us that the internet was down, and would be down during our entire stay... Ok.. Day 1, power went out about 5:00. Came back on around Midnight. Day 3, power went out about noon. Came back on around 4:00 A.M. Could not get fire started in fireplace, Actually a good thing as the flue seemed to be blocked.(did not mess with it). Yet, with all that, the house was beautifully maintained and decorated. The views and area were stunning.

Loved every minute of being in this home and wonderful location. Although it was foggy most of the time, we didn't care because the house is so cozy and well laid out. We ate most of our meals there because we enjoyed the atmosphere. Everything was good - clean house, plenty of dishes, pots and pans. In fact, with the exception of the coffee pot which we struggled with, there is nothing we didn't like about our experience. We will rent this place again, for sure!

We had an incredible time staying at the Age of the Sea home. The views are absolutely incredible and the atmosphere is so peaceful. This is our second stay in the same house, the appliances and the home is really clean and updated. We will come back again for sure.

The house was incredibly clean and quaint. The bedding is a little rough, but overall the size and comfort of the bed was fantastic.

The house was perfect sized and the property is truly an oasis. We would venture to the bench by the cliff and sit there for hours watching the ocean. The cooking appliances worked well and the stay was perfect for a recharging weekend after months of working tirelessly. Would definitely recommend staying here with a loved one.

The property sits out with an amazing view of the ocean and the cliffs opposite. It's a very roomy home with the primary focus on the view.
The home was pretty much as described except for a few disheartening features.
1) Internet is virtually non-existent. Rental office attempted to help by sending out a man to look at it, but you can forget about getting any type of internet connection.
2) The cooktop in the kitchen was virtually non-operational. At one time (1980's) it was considered state of the art.....unfortunately, no longer. One burner does not work at all and the other 3 might as well have not worked.
3) I understand this is a rental property, but go to Target and purchase some new pots and pans....although you can't cook on the cooktop anyway.

The remainder of the house was very pleasant....hot tub was great; the master bed and bath were terrific.

The house and location was wonderful. The house was clean and well equipped. Our pets loved the location. The jacuzzi was dirty; when we removed the cover we found a greasy dirty ring around the tub and dirt forming water that heated only to 99 degrees! When we contacted office staff we were rebuffed! We asked to speak with management. Christy the manager responded with several emails and she was apologetic and offered 25.00 per day for non use of the jacuzzi. We understand that sometimes things happen....we look forward to staying again at Edge of the Sea. The views alone will leave you calling for more!

Spent a great cool 4th of July week with a fabulous view

Beautiful home in a very quiet setting. A perfect get-away for a couple of large family.

We enjoyed our stay at this lovely, clean and spacious home. The home accommodated our gathering of 7 family members very well. The hot tub was a great extra and the views are outstanding.

The house is gorgeous and easily accessible. It was clean upon arrival with thoughtful treats for our canine companions. The pots and pans are in great condition, which was wonderful for us because we like to do a lot of our own cooking. The views are stunning from inside the house, on the porch, or in the back yard. We spotted some grey whales, though they were hard to find up close with the little refracting telescope they have, but it was still fun to look out at the ocean through it.

Would very much recommend bringing a telescope here if you have one. There is a lighthouse nearby that might be a little annoying for viewing from the back yard, but the front of the house is dark, and the night view is stellar (forgive the pun).

The restaurants around the area are also magnificent: Circa '62 was _amazing_ for brunch (you can even bring your dog, and order her a canine brunch!). The Albion River Inn's dinner was fantastic as well.

Mendocino Preferred Vacation Rentals clearly does a great job at maintaining this property, and they were a pleasure to deal with. We would love to stay at this vacation home again!

Everything about our visit along the Mendocino Coast was fantastic and staying at 'Edge of the Sea' only made our vacation that much better. The home was very spacious, clean, well maintained and the location....incredible! Opening your eyes in the morning and having the first thing you see be the Pacific Ocean outside the large bedroom windows - there is really no better way to start your day.

The home is only a short 10 minute drive to the town of Mendocino and Fort Bragg is just around 20 minutes away so you are close to activity but feel a world away. So many fun things to do nearby or you can just relax in the comfort and serenity of this beautiful property.

The only negative thing I can say is that the internet is very slow and unreliable if that is important to you, but when you are in a setting like this it is nice to unplug.

We showed friends some pictures and have already had them request the link to the site so they can book a trip here themselves. We are definitely planning on coming back and possibly making this an annual trip.

The view is spectacular. You will love the master bed and bath. The hot tub on the deck is for spending hours in day or evening...just talking, looking at the ocean or the stars. The stove does not work well & there are no instructions on using it. Made worse because all the knobs are not connected to a "burner". This was mentioned in a review from 2014 so I thought it'd be fixed. Wasn't.

Unfortunately there was no WiFi (although advertised otherwise) AND no cellular service. So forget it if you want to do any work or even read news. Justin from property management tried really hard to fix the problem without much success. Good thing free calls (including International) are provided from a landline to allow min communication with the outside world.

We absolutely loved this house and the location. The house is gorgeous and has very high quality furnishings from the custom kitchen to the the double-headed shower in a blissful etched glass enclosed shower. The ocean views are striking and the sounds and fresh air are marvelous. We loved our time there, only leaving once during the week to explore surrounding areas. Do plan on bringing groceries with you as the nearest market is in Fort Bragg, very expensive but wonderful produce. Loved it, loved it, loved it!

My husband,me and our 2 dogs had a great time. We were there for 3 nights.Even though it rained off and on the sun did come out for a couple of hours and we were able to take a walk on the beach.The house was right on the bluff so we had fantastic views.

had a wonderful time. We have rented this house several times and have always enjoyed out stay. The ocean view is breathtaking.

We celebrated a big birthday here and loved every minute. The unobstructed view of the ocean is spectacular. The master suite invites a romatic interlude. The hot tub on the deck got used daily. The kitchen was spacious for cooking, but the stove wasn't quite hot enough, and I suggest some new non-stick pans. I didn't want to leave.
